Teen Girls

Empowering Girls to Be Fearless

Encouraging teen girls to complete high school is important because dropouts earn lower wages than graduates, which can become a barrier to long-term self-sufficiency. We value girls and seek to build a community that values girls as full participants.

InterCept

InterCept is a leadership program for at-risk girls in Harrison School District Two that teaches girls to make healthy life choices. This school-based prevention program for 8th through 12th grade girls focuses on building leadership skills and positive relationships by addressing such topics as:

  • Depression, Suicide and Self-Injury
  • Goal Setting
  • Substance Abuse
  • Anger Management
  • Relational Aggression / Bullying between girls
  • Intimate Partner Violence / Domestic Violence
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Nutrition and Wellness
  • Abstinence-Based Sex Education
  • Community Resources
  • And more!

The program begins with weekly group meetings and guest speakers. Our high-school program focuses on community service-learning projects and monthly presentations on topics of interest to the girls.

Intercept Too

InterCept Too is an intervention program for girls in the juvenile justice system who are referred by other agencies as part of their sentencing. Our program meets the sentencing requirements for Municipal Teen Court and the 4th Judicial District Probation and Diversion Programs.

Girls are referred through:

  • The Colorado Springs Teen Court
  • The 4th Judicial District Probation
  • Senate Bill 94
  • El Paso County Department of Human Services
  • Adult and Juvenile Offenders Service
  • And self-referrals, as space permits

Eight weekly group sessions are offered from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. A $100 non-refundable fee is assessed for the program; financial assistance may be available.
